Tired of signing the same guestbook at every wedding? (Especially when you know the couple is going to store it away and never look at it again.) Here are a few clever ideas to get your guests’ John Hancock onto something that may mean a little more.
- Put out a large blank canvas complete with colored pencils and paint for guests to provide their own artistic input.
- Have guests sign a wine bottle which can be opened on your first anniversary.
- Rent a photo booth for the evening complete with a chalkboard for guests to write their wedding messages on. Next to the booth, station a scrapbook for the pictures to be inserted next to their signature.
- Go retro with a typewriter and a long scroll for a spin on the standard ink and paper. Or find your grandmother’s or mother’s wedding guestbook and have guests fill up the empty pages.
- Find an object that is important to you as a couple such as a favorite book, a kayak, a guitar, or old record albums for guests to initial.
- Round up vintage fabric, cut it into squares and set out fabric markers for your guests. Sew the signed pieces into a quilt, pillow, or apron.
- When hosting a smaller, more intimate affair, set out ink for guests to add their fingerprints and names to trees/friend trees. Make it more personal by making it into a book complete with old wedding photos of grandparents and close family.
